1. Sparks Marina RV Park

Just 10 minutes east of Reno, in northern Nevada is the Sparks Marina RV Park in the city of Sparks. The RV park has 204 level sites to accommodate any sized recreational vehicle. The park is surrounded by the beauty of mountains in the distance that are snow-capped in the winter. The RV Park itself is adjacent to Sparks Lake, which was created from a naturally occurring aquifer. Many aquatic activities are available at the nearby lake including fishing, swimming, boating, scuba diving, and even sailing and windsurfing. The park surrounding the lake is an ideal place to enjoy a picnic, traverse the walking paths, or let your four-legged buddy run off leash in the dog park. 

The park offers pull through sites to accommodate larger-sized recreational vehicles. This all-ages park allows pets, and has full hook-ups including electricity and sewer. Wi-Fi service and cable/satellite access is complimentary with every stay. The grounds offer restrooms, showers, laundry facility, clubhouse with billiards and ping pong tables, kitchen area, fitness center, a community outdoor fire pit and barbecue area, swimming pool, and a gift shop. An onsite putting green and access to the lake will keep you entertained with a multitude of aquatic and land-based activities.

Daily Rate October 1st – April 30th depending on back in or pull through sites range from $39.00 – $44.00 per night.  

May 1st – September 30th sites range from $49.00 – $54.00.

Note that due to Hot August Nights, the Classic Car Event, daily rates increase to $84.00 – $94.00 with a minimum three night stay.

2. Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort

Just 20 minutes west of Reno and bordering the California state line, is the dazzling forested city with rolling green hills dotted with tall pine trees that are covered in a blanket of white in the winter. The Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort offers 105 paved sites that are comfortably spaced with greenery between each site. Neighboring the RV park is the Gold Ranch Casino for gaming, dining, and libations.

This all-ages, pet-friendly facility has the accessibility to accommodate big rig RVs with pull through sites, full hookups, electricity, cable or satellite hookups, and propane. Public Wi-Fi is available along with access to showers, laundry room, and clubhouse on site. Activities include heated pool and hot tub, access to recreational trails, biking, and horseshoes. The casino also offers four restaurants from coffee options to casual dining. On the property, you’ll also find a fueling station with a 24-hour convenience store.

3. Welcome Station RV Park

Wells, Nevada is a hidden gem that few travelers know about. The scenic views amidst hidden valleys, creeks, rivers, and lakes offer a peaceful feeling that truly makes this a “getaway.” Hikers will revel in the multiple trails that lead to surprises that are truly a sight to behold. Though Wells may be small, it packs plenty of activity to entertain just about any traveler. This quaint 21-site RV campsite is set on 5 acres of grass and is landscaped with stately, mature willow trees that offer just the right amount of shade. The grounds are so beautiful, the privately-owned campsite has hosted weddings, reunions, and is the perfect spot for family photo sessions.

Welcome Station allows pets and visitors of all ages and each site includes full hookups, electricity, water, restrooms, showers, laundry area, and firewood. Tent camping is available as well as big rig access and pull through sites. Activities at the park include horseshoes, outdoor tennis courts, recreation trails, and a community fire pit. 

Rates depend of the size of each site and can range from $28 – $33 daily and $165 weekly. Welcome Station accepts reservations through their website.

4. Iron Horse RV Park

3400 Idaho St., Elko, NV 89801

Nestled up against the Ruby Mountains in the city of Elko, is Iron Horse RV Park. Elko, Nevada is ideal for travelers any time of year for outdoor activities including hiking and rock climbing, mountain biking, boating, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and off-roading. In the winter months thrill-seekers will enjoy skiing, heliskiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. Other fun activities include gaming at the nearby casino, taking a tour of the Nevada Museum, tours of the largest gold mine in the West, or guided tours of one of the many historical ghost towns. 

Iron Horse RV Park has 92 spaces available including pull through sites and is equipped to handle big rig RVs. The facility is both family and pet-friendly, allows for tent camping and offers a dump station, full hookups, electricity, cable hookups, water, and Wi-Fi. The facility also includes access to restrooms, showers, laundry, dog run area, heated pool and hot tub, playground, clubhouse with recreation room, meeting space, a snack bar and all amenities of the nearby Shutters Hotel Elko which includes access to the indoor pool, business and fitness centers, and Ruby Restaurant.

5. Mill Creek Recreation Area

50 Bastian Rd., Battle Mountain, NV 89820

Just 30 minutes off Highway 80, on a gravely road, is the Mill Creek Campground. This primitive campground offers stunning views that are idealistic for picnics, walks, or enjoying the calming sound of a babbling brook. Though you’ll feel you are completely “off the grid”, the site is close enough to civilization should you need any supplies. A small creek runs through the site and draws many deer to drink from its cooling waters. 

This campsite is run by the Bureau of Land Management and though it has limited features, the sights of both flora and fauna more than make up for it. The site does allow campers of all ages with pets and both tent camping and RVs are welcome on the grounds. Each site is equipped with barbecue grills, picnic tables, and a trash can. Public restrooms are also available. 

There is no cost to camp at the Mill Creek Recreation Area and reservations are not required.
